Pumpkin Everything!!!

Holy Moly it's been a while! Well, here I am again, ready to update you on our adventures.

First off, it's fall! That glorious time of year when it's not too hot and it's not too cold!
At the grocery store the other day, William insisted on getting a pumpkin. Of course I let him pick out a pumpkin (I can't say no to him... it's a real problem of mine).

Well, believe it or not, the pumpkin was dropped a couple times and got a little smooshed crack on the bottom. That little smooshed crack developed a tiny bit of surface mold, so now I'm not sure what to do with the pumpkin. We can't carve it because it'll just decompose in days. I don't want to use it for pumpkin pie because it's pretty small and a chunk of the pumpkin flesh is in the general vicinity of mold (yes, I'm that easily freaked out).

PUMPKIN SEEDS!!!

Yep, that's it. Pumpkin seeds. William and I will make our very own pumpkin seeds. And maybe, just maybe, he will eat some since he was involved in the process of making them.

So here's where we got our recipe: http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/food-network-kitchens/pumpkin-seeds-recipe/index.html

I cut the pumpkin in half (since we don't need to save the flesh for anything) and let William dig in! He was a little hesitant to grab the seeds at first because they were slimy, but he eventually started to like it.

Playing in the water was his favorite part. He's my water boy.
William spread them out on the baking sheet. This is quickly becoming his project and he's not really wanting me to help him. *sigh* Such a big boy!

After they dried in the oven, we put our seasoning on them.

And roasted them some more.

After they cooled a bit, they were ready to be eaten.

It was a pretty quick afternoon project, but it was fun and we tried something new.
